About Maine Music Collective

Maine Music Collective is a creative, collaborative singing community based in Southern Maine. We exist to create joyful, connective, and judgment-free spaces for people of all backgrounds to come together through music. Whether you’re an experienced singer or someone who’s never sung outside the shower, you belong here.

Our mission is to cultivate accessible, playful opportunities for collective music-making—spaces where people can seek expression, freedom, growth, and release through singing. We believe music is more than sound—it’s a way to heal, connect, and feel more human together.

At our events, we don’t separate performer from audience. We break down barriers. Everyone is part of the music. We learn our parts ahead of time using simple tools—like practice tracks to follow along with and PDFs—so that when we gather, we can go beyond the notes and into the real magic of singing in community.

Who We Are

We are a chorus without auditions, without expectations, and without ego.

We are strangers turned friends, voices turned harmony.

We are a space to sing, play, connect, grow, and just have a good time.

We welcome humans of all ages, races, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, classes, religions, languages, and musical experiences. All we ask is that you bring your open mind, your authentic self, and a willingness to leave judgment—of yourself and others—at the door.

Meet Our Director: Dr. Christian Giddings

Maine Music Collective is led by Dr. Christian Giddings, a conductor, composer, and passionate music educator from Unity, Maine. Christian holds a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting from the University of Arizona, as well as M.M. and B.M. degrees in Music Education from the University of Maine. He has taught and led ensembles of all ages and experience levels in Maine, Arizona, and North Dakota.

A strong believer in lifelong music-making, Christian has devoted his career to creating inclusive, welcoming musical spaces—especially in non-auditioned choirs. His work has taken him to conferences across the U.S. and abroad, and he currently serves as Director of the Tri-City Community Chorus in Biddeford and Choral Director at Noble High School in North Berwick, Maine.

Under Christian’s leadership, MMC is as musically enriching as it is welcoming—offering high-quality artistry without sacrificing warmth, humor, or humanity.

Because music is a fundamental human practice.
Because we all need spaces to feel, to connect, and to be heard.
Because singing with others reminds us we’re not alone.

Maine Music Collective is here to build those spaces—one rehearsal, one voice, one joyful song at a time.

Come sing with us.
